Semper Fi, Marine: Two Brothers in the Pacific Theater, WWII

“Semper Fi, Marine is the unique journey of two enlisted brothers as they face the perils of the Pacific Theater during WWII. The riveting battles come to life using first-hand accounts as each had to find his own way at this pivotal time in history. Beginning with life in a small town, the book continues as the two adjusted to life shortly after the war. The story resumes decades later when the author traveled to the opposite side of the globe to view one the battlefields.”

“The Lomeli brothers are from Martinez, a town very near me, and that immediately drew my interest. The prologue is a wonderful view of life in pre-war Martinez and life during the depression. The book does not dwell on the fighting, tactics or strategies, rather, it draws you in with firsthand narratives from actual participants. The viewpoint is narrow as a result, but a refreshing change from war story’s that focus on the war rather than the ordinary individuals involved. The story is well written and switches from the daughter’s (author) perspective to the actual stories being told by her father and uncle. If you enjoy reading WW II history, I recommend the book to you. It is a pleasant, refreshing break from the typical military history book.” C.D. Cofer, Amazon Review

“Loved the fact that the book was more like an interview rather than interpretation!”Henry Ranel, Amazon Review

“Raul and Al Lomeli. Al was in New Guiney, Peleliu, Okinawa, 7th Marines…with his brother Raul (d.2013) both kids from Martinez, CA. Al introduced his daughter Rhonda, at our last meeting of the Marine Corps League, who announced publication of her first book. “Semper Fi Marine” which she wrote, the result from a series of meetings with her dad and uncle Raul during 2000 – 2012 . I read it cover to cover and was totally amazed at her sensitivity to the vagaries in violence of war. It was a compelling read and I cannot recommend it enough. Has a very strong surprise ending and that occurred during her personal visit to Peleliu a few years ago.”David Selvy, Amazon Review

“This book was very knowledgeable and enjoyable to read. It was refreshing to be presented these experiences from the brother’s accounts, and the author has done a wonderful job of bringing together the personal and educational aspect of their stories. Would definitely recommend!”Anonymous, Amazon Review
